If you read me a lot, you know my views on dieting. I’ve been tracking my caloric intake using the Lose It app for the iphone. It’s been going well enough, meaning I’ve held my weight instead of gaining it, but I haven’t lost any more than 4 pounds since I started. 

I’m very pro eating what you want instead of eating what you “have” to for a diet. But Saturday night was a task! I was 400 calories under my daily budget. We had a late lunch instead of dinner and then I went out to watch UFC with a friend. I didn’t head home until 1:30am and I was starving!!! I was heading back in to the city on the Kennedy and saw a sign for a 24 hour McDonalds. Mmmmmmmm.
With out a second thought I pulled in the drive through. I’m not sure that last time I had McDonalds or fast-food at all for that matter. But it sounded soooo good. There were 2 cars ahead of me, so while I waited I opened the Lose It app and started looking up the calories for the Quarter Pounder (513 according to Lose It) and Big Mac (563 according to Lose It)… WHOA!!! My calorie budget was only 374.
Now I’m not going to tell you that going a little over every now and then will destroy your diet, but it’s something you should think about.
Now there was only one car in front of me, I looked up the calories in an just a regular cheese burger (313 according to Lose It). But is that even worth it? It’s not going to make me full, it’s just going to make me want another cheese burger!!!
I closed the app, and left the drive through, I’d rather go to bed a little hungry than over budget. 
I took Sunday as a rest day and I’m doing the same today… This weeks running schedule doesn’t look too bad. I’m looking forward to a long run next Sunday, I’m shooting for 14 miles.
