Today marks day one of my three day weekend. This week has not been good as far as my training is concerned. Sunday I ran a rough 13 miles, though I was pretty beat up about it I wasn’t going to let it affect the rest of the week.
Monday was a rest day, I had a lot to do at work with the relaunch of Open House Chicago coming up. When I got home Monday night, Sammy wasn’t feeling so hot. He had the beginning stages of his first cold/flu. It progressively got worse through the night, the poor guy didn’t know what was going on.
I was supposed to run an easy 3 miles Tuesday morning which got postponed since Sammy still had a fever. I figured I’d get the time in after work… Well as usual I ended up staying later than planned and the run got canceled all together.
Pretty much the same scenario happened on Wednesday. Sammy was still sick as a dog, and I got stuck at work. The only difference was Tracy was also starting to get sick. So when Thursday rolled around it was the same story, except it involved Tracy staying home from work and me staying even later at work than the previous 2 days.
AWESOME!!! A WHOLE WEEK AND NO RUNNING! JUST DAMN SUPER!
Today both Sammy and Tracy are feeling better, it’s technically a rest day, but I’m going to do some sort of workout.
Adam is in town from Alaska and we’re going to head over to Fleet Feet to get fitted for some shoes and then see where the day takes us.
Tomorrow is a busy day, I have the Champions 10K in the morning and then the rest of the day is a bachelor party for my friend Dave. Regardless of how I feel on Sunday, there will be a run… even if it’s only a mile!
I need to get back on track. I can’t let this weeks problems linger in to next weeks training.
