Adam and I had a discussion about New Years resolutions last week. I said to him that I don’t think I’ve ever had a legit New Years resolution. I didnt have anything in mind, but I wanted one.
Adam’s suggestion was not to. His reason being that I set some hearty goals for 2011. Between the Mooseman 70.3, the Rock n’ Roll 1/2 marathon, finishing the Chicago Marathon sub 5hrs, and then the Disney Marathon to open up 2012 (plus any other races I do in training) I had a full schedule. And that doesn’t factor in family and work!
I have to admit he had a point, and I really hate it when he’s right. However it’s been bothering me. There has to be SOMETHING I can resolve to do in 2011 that won’t add to my “work-load”
I think I figured it out. I started reading the book “Clean” It gives some good info on staying healthy by eating clean and avoiding unnecessary toxins.
Now before you think I’m gonna get all hippie-vegan weirdo on you just hear me out… (No offense to my friends Hippie Billy or Don the vegan).
The book mentions things that I do fairly often that have a poor effect of your body, such as drinking too much caffiene (i’m on my 3rd coffee of the day and it’s 9am), drinking beer, unnecessary sugars (there is a homemade ice-cream cake in my freezer) ect.
I can resolve to take care of my self better, which in turn will (according to this book) help eliminate stress, aches, pains, colds.
My 1st New Years Resolution
So that’s what I’m shooting for. We’ll see how it goes.
I had a poor swim last night, I was gassed just over half way through and fell short of finishing. Today there is a 50 min hill run on he treadmill in the books, this evening I’ll be ringing in the New Year at home relaxing with my family!
Tomorrow starts a busy 2011, feel free to share your resolutions and goals for the new year in the comments below!
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!!
