You know, I didn’t think a rest day would matter that much given my “training schedule” the last couple of months. But I have to say, I’m quite alright not running today.
I did a couple low milage workouts over the weekend. I felt pretty good, except for the heat. I’ve had very little if any body aches and best of all my legs don’t hurt.
I’m anxious to get in more races though. I read Pace of Chicago today and there was a great line.
“There’s no better way to train for a race than by racing, how do you feel about it?”
I like it!
I’ve been trying to get in to every race I can find to beef up my Marathon prep schedule. The Nike+ challenges are motivating and all, but I feel like the races will really get me ready.
I’m still waiting in the wings to see if I can get in to the Rock N’ Roll 1/2. I’ve made some calls and it’s not looking good (unless someone has and extra $1,000 they want to donate).
I have the Cancer is Colorblind 5k on Aug 7th (minimum donation is only $5 and you can donate here). I’m looking to do the Dick Pond Champions 10K on the 21st and the Half Madness 1/2 Marathon on Sept 5th.
I told Adam that if he got us an Airline sponsor I’d fly to Fairbanks to do the Santa Claus 1/2 Marathon in North Pole Alaska on August 8th… I think it’s a safe bet that I’ll be running the lake path that day.
Mostly I need to condition and watch my intake. I’ve been focusing on my overall diet and trying not to indulge. I only have 3 miles scheduled for tomorrow, but I might make it a little longer depending on how I feel.
